In response to the Weeklong H1N1 Health & Safety training two AFT faculty members (Dr. Norma Bowe and Dr. Kathleen Henderson), received in Portland, Oregon, early in August, the two came back and immediately sat down with the Administration to see what plans have or have not been put in place. Since that time they have worked closely with the administration almost every day in making sure Kean is prepared. The KUAFF requested the administration publish guidance for faculty and information to include in their syllabus. (read on for the specifics).

After many years of negotiating with the Kean Administration, Dr. Farahi has agreed to permit Adjunct Faculty to teach an increased workload.

"All" Kean Adjunct Faculty have until Feb. 18th to complete forms concerning their Pension. A lot of misinformation has circulated up to now, so, here is the latest information we received from the CNJSCL (Council of NJ State College Locals).

On Wednesday, October 22, 2008, Kean University and the KUAFF signed off on a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA # 30), which would provide additional compensation to adjunct faculty who are given replacement courses in place of their original contracted assignment. MOA # 31 becomes effective beginning January 22, 2009 until June 30, 2011.

On Wednesday, October 22, 2008, Kean University and the KUAFF signed off on a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA # 31), which would provide additional compensation for adjuncts whose current class course meets twice per week throughout the semester, and whose schedules will be changed to meet three days per week. In addition to that, those adjuncts teaching during the "Weekend College" hours" will also receive additional compensation.
MOA # 31 becomes effective beginning September 1, 2009, as this years university fiscal budget would not permit changes at this late date.
